32nd Kiawah Island Marathon

The 32nd Kiawah Island Marathon will be held this Saturday, December 12, 2009.  Race start time is 8 am.

If you are visiting Kiawah this weekend, please be aware of some road closures. The Kiawah Island Parkway will be closed 7:55 am- 8:15 am from the Sea Forest Drive intersection to the Vanderhorst Security Gate.

Runners will be on the Kiawah Island roads and bike paths throughout the morning and early afternoon, so please be cautious while driving.

Here's a rogue idea: How about ditching the car and becoming a marathon spectator for the race? All racers, especially marathoners love to hear the crowds cheering! Gives a runner a little extra boost, especially around mile 21.

Guess who's coming for dinner...?

Mr. Marathon himself, Hal Higdon!   Mr. Higdon will speak Thursday night, December 10, 2009 to the Charleston Running Club.  This free event is being held at the UBS Center, 900 Island Park Drive, on Daniel Island.

Mr. Higdon is also scheduled to attend the Kiawah Island Marathon pre-race expo on Friday, December 11th and post-race dinner Saturday night, December 12, 2009.
